Message personalization
How can I personalize my campaign?
You are able to personalize your campaign while typing a message in the second step of SMS campaign. Message personalization is a powerful tool that creates a higher positive attitude towards the message from the side of the recipient. This can therefore lead to a higher conversion rate of the campaign.
In order to personalize your campaign, you have to have necessary information such as name, email or other contact information you want to use for the personalization.
To personalize your campaign:
- Go to the second step of an SMS campaign
- Click on
Variables
at the top of the typing window - Use any of the variables available to personalize your campaign.
Please note that if you lack any data for the selected recipient variables, the recipient who you lack the data for, will receive a message without the selected variable. In other words, if you want to write a message “Dear <first_name>, I want to…“, and you filled the first name for only 50% of the recipients, the variable <first_name> will be empty for 50% of your recipients. Therefore half of your recipients will receive message “Dear , I want to…“.
If you are missing data for the variables you want to use in the message, you can click on the variable directly in the text and enter the default value (which will be used instead of the missing value) using
Add default.
Please also keep in mind that when using variables, the content of the variable will be added to the message text, i.e. the length of your message text will increase by the number of characters that the variable represents. For example, if you insert the variable <last_name> representing the name "Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff" into the text of your message, although the editor will show that you have used 11 characters (the length is displayed in the bottom right corner of the editor), the variable is actually 35 characters long, which is the actual length by which the number of characters in the message will increase.
