What is Sender ID profile and how can I use it?

Sender ID profile is a great tool for streamlining communication, saving time, and better overview. It enables you to set up sender type for each country separately in one profile. This function is especially useful when creating and sending international SMS campaigns, but of course can be used for standard campaigns for one country or for sending SMS notifications. If you create sender ID profile you'll then see this profile when selecting sender type in SMS campaigns, and sending SMS notifications. It's also a great API tool because if you need to change the sender type in a country, you simply do it in the Portal and don't have to change anything in the API.

How does it work?

Let's say that we create a sender ID profile for a fictional company "ABC". This profile is called “ABC” and includes 4 countries with different sender types:

  • UK – text sender ID - “ABC Company”
  • France – text sender ID - “ABC”
  • Germany – own number
  • Ireland – system number

Now we will create an SMS campaign (can be applied for notification SMS) that will be send simultaneously to the UK, France, Germany and Ireland. In the second step of the campaign, in the Sender type field, we will select the profile "ABC." When sending a campaign, BulkGate automatically delivers an SMS in the country with the sender type set in the Sender ID profile. If the recipients are from countries other than we specified in our "ABC" profile and we use this sender ID profile, the messages are delivered with the default sender type, which is most often the System number. On the other hand, if we will send messages to one country (e.g. the UK) using this profile, the message will be delivered with the text sender ID "Company ABC."

How can I create a sender ID profile and add a country to an existing profile?

To create a new sender ID profile:

  1. Click on SMS & Viber messaging in the left menu on the BulkGate Portal
  2. Click Sender ID profiles
  3. Click Add new profile in the upper right corner
  4. Fill in the profile name and click Create
  5. Click the new profile to set up
  6. Select the country / countries for which you want to set sender type and click Next
  7. Select the sender type you want to assign to the country in this sender ID profile (you can assign a different sender type for the same country in another sender ID profile), fill out the form and click Next
  8. Check the data and click Save
  9. Now you can assign other countries to the sender id profile with the same or different sender types

How can I rename a sender ID profile?

To rename a sender ID profile:

  1. Click SMS & Viber messaging in the left menu on the BulkGate Portal
  2. Click Sender ID Profiles
  3. Select the profile you want to rename
  4. Click on the More actions icon (⚙️ gear icon)
  5. Select Rename
  6. Enter a new name and click Rename

How can I delete a country in sender ID profile?

To delete a country in a sender ID profile:

  1. Click SMS & Viber messaging in the left menu on the BulkGate Portal
  2. Click Sender ID Profiles
  3. Select the country you want to delete and click the Delete icon (bin icon) and confirm

How can I change sender type in a sender ID profile?

To change sender type in a sender ID profile:

  1. Click SMS & Viber messaging in the left menu on the BulkGate Portal
  2. Click Sender ID profiles
  3. Select the country for which you want to change sender type and click on it
  4. Choose sender type and click Next
  5. Check and click Save

How can I delete sender ID profile?

To delete a sender ID profile:

  1. Click SMS & Viber messaging in the left menu on the BulkGate Portal
  2. Click Sender ID Profiles
  3. Select the profile you want to delete
  4. Click More actions (⚙️ gear icon)
  5. Choose Delete and confirm
